Wow, what a day! What a weekend!
First of all it was a great weekend because A) the Philadelphia Flyers took a 4-1 victory against Minesota.... Minnesota?... I don't know. Neither spelling looks right. I'm retarded. --- And then the Eagles won agains the Giants on Sunday. Which, I'm not a football fan/watcher at all, but I like it when the Eagles win because it makes my family happy :-D
Sunday was also fun because I played some "street hockey" with some family members. Actually, on Friday and Saturday I spent most of the day out in my dad's workshop making kid-sized hockey sticks out of wood. I cut them out, sanded them, spray painted them, and then put hockey tape on them to make them look official. This was the result:
Yes, that's a Star Wars blanket. Yes, that's a Shamu picture folder--I'll include the photo that's inside it sometime--yes that's a guidebook for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and yes that's a dictionary (I was looking up the definition of "vain" to use against some Christian dork who was trying to tell me that the Third Commandment had nothing to do with saying "OMG".
Anyway, so, yes, those are the sticks. The kids loved them and even wrote their names on two of them. So on Sunday it was me, my brother Tim and brother-in-law Mike and their kids... well... not their kids. Like, not their kids together. Their kids that they had with their wives. Not eachothers' wives, just each man's wife. Not like both, but separate. Get it? Got it? Good. So, yes, us three older gentlemen against the kids. It was pretty comical, but fun! We took turns playing the goalie.... of course, our "hockey net" was the side of a barn-shack out on the cement. But I actually did get a hockey net frame tonight from Tim. The only problem is that it doesn't have netting. I went to two sports stores and couldn't find any netting. Most likely I'm going to have to order it off the internet.
Last Monday, if you weren't around GalacticSenate.com, I started a new podcast; Christianese Radio with Joe Harrison :-D The first episode tackled the subject already spoken about here in the previous post, which was the "Jesus Camp" thing. I will hopefully be releasing the second episode later tonight. I'm trying to make it a weekly podcast with releases every Monday night. But we'll see how that goes. Anyway, you can find that here: starwarsfanworks.com/lionsmouth/christia
Today was rather hectic because of an explosion over at the Senate over the Star Wars Fanworks Audio Awards. But I'm hoping--it has started to simmer down now--that it has come to an end, or is at least near it. I hate it when this happens because I never want people to walk away fuming. And I really do trying to think of what the best way would be to handle such situations for someone following Christ's example. And, honestly, I just can't seem to get a clear idea of what the best approach would have been. Regardless, what's done is done. There's not much we can do now but wait and see what the final decision of this person in particular ends up being.
Well, I think I'm going to go play some NHL 2K7 or watch NHL on the Fly on the NHL Network... we'll see. What I'm trying to get at is that I'm done writing for now. So there.
But before I go I want to give a nice friendly shoutout to my bestest buds who actually take the time to read my boring livejournal updates... Jim and Emalin! You guys are awesome!
P.S. - Emalin, let me know how you're doing when you get a chance. I haven't seen you on the Senate as of late. I hope everything's going alright.
Jim.... just... keep... doing your thing, man. :-D
The whole time I was watching it, I was continuously getting this eerie feeling. And it wasn't the kind of feeling I get when I'm being "attacked by a demon." It was the feeling I get whenever something just seems to be off or not right, such as the feeling I get whenever I read about "christians" who aren't following the Biblical way. Or the feeling I get when I see "False Christs" like Michael Travesser and Todd Bentley.
There were just some things that I have a hard time dealing with and question. I don't know, something about driving kids 4-10 years old into deep, gloves-off Christianity just strikes the wrong chord with me. Seeing these kids getting to the point where their faces were blood-red as they cried over the bad things going on in the world, or over the sins they have committed. Some children dropped to the floor. Others appeared to be slightly convulsing--an act that I always am wary of; convulsions in the Bible always seem to be associated with demons and/or demon-possession-one of many things that led me to question Todd Bentley's ministry where people that he touched would begin to shake rapidly and uncontrollably.
There were some other strange things that they did; one of them was during the time when the kids were crying out what they're greatest sins were and there was a lady on the microphone doing a weird moan type noise that really freaked me out.
A sidenote: another thing that "freaked" me out was when one of the leaders began speaking in tongues. Now the kids weren't doing this, just the adults. I'm not going to go so far as to say that speaking in tongues is wrong; I just really feel that there is neither a need nor a point to practice that any longer. Plus it just sounds freaky.
Something was just not right about any of this. And, like I said, I still can't seem to put my finger on it. I think, however, part of it may be related to what a Christian radio show host had to say about the ministry at the end of the documentary. He, too, was wary of this ministry. Anyway, one of his points was that it's almost like these people are driving these children into the Christian lifestyle at a young age so that they don't really have a choice. And this can be very dangerous later on in life. I can pretty much guarentee that a large percentage of the people who were forced to become Christians at a young age have fallen away when they got older. "Forcing" is a very dangerous arena because it causes False Converts.
I just really think we need to be very careful when raising our children for Christ. There is too much that can go wrong, and there's too much at stake.
Now is this just me? Or does anyone else agree with me on this that there's just something off about this?

Well, I've been discovering a horrid truth. I just can't seem to win Wii games against my friends. Granted I've only played on one three times within the last two weeks. But still.... Okay, I won ONE match of Wii Tennis and Golf. But lost Bowling, lost Godzilla Unleashed, lost Mario Party 8, lost, lost, LOST! And it was never an okay loss; such as, I was just within a hair of winning. No, it was ridiculously horrible losses. BLAH!!! Well... it just means that I have to get a Wii and practice hard. But I have to say, this was a very disappointing day for the Master-Gamer of the Harrison Family.
On some unrelated news, I just found out that Majel Barrett-Roddenberry just passed away in her home in Bel-Air. She apparently had leukemia; I didn't even know about that. According to Yahoo! News she was able to finish recording her lines for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek--for those that didn't know, Abrams called her in to reprise her role as the Enterprise computer voice--but whether or not she was able to see a screening of the movie is unseen.... I don't know why that's important, but... So that's pretty sad. And even sadder because I'm just not sure what her religious-status was. This year has just been a constant reminder that people can be snatched into infinity in an instant, that's why it's so important that we bring the Gospel to the Lost. An average 150,000 people die every 24 hours, and I can guarentee that most of those hundred-and-fifty-thousand people didn't think they were going to die when they did. It is so unbelievably important that we seek the Lost. I don't know about you, but I don't want to stand nearby the Throne on Judgement Day as the Lost are judged by God, and watch as they point a finger at me and say that I didn't tell them. Of course I know it wouldn't be my fault, but I'm sure I may still feel some guilt.

Thanks for the nudge, Jim.
Wow, it's been a busy 7 weeks! Getting ready for Christmas gets more and more hectic with each passing year. Anyway, right now I am in my room watching "Jacked" on A&E (one of the officers, Mike Gallaro, is a friend of my brother in law's). Sort of just relaxing after an awesome Philadelphia Flyers game against the Colorado Avalanche (5-2 Win for the Flyers!) doing some last minute work (paying work) before I get ready to watch "NHL On The Fly" on the NHL Network (at 12AM).
Lately I've been putting a lot of time into strengthening my connection with God. And it's been paying off. For the last 6-7 weeks I have been joining a small group on Monday nights that has been taking "The Way of the Master Training Course." For those unfamiliar, WOTM
basically teaches us how to witness to people the way Jesus did, which was by using God'sLaw, the Ten Commandments (you probably heard me mention this a few entries down). So, I am happy to say that for the first time in my born-again life (about 12 years now), I witnessed to three teenage guys standing outside my WaWa late one night last week. One of them claimed to be a Christian, but I really doubt that; all kinds of profanity was coming from his mouth, plus he admitted "sleeping around" outside of marriage. The leader of the gang didn't seem interested in what I had to say, though he commented every once and a while. But the third kid, who seemed to be the weakling of the group, I really think the Holy Spirit was at work on him. I could see the conviction setting in. His amused smile became a nervous smile once I took him through the law, and then the smile disappeared altogether when I told him about what Jesus did for us. It was really amazing and I felt God working through me.Next Monday is our last meeting, and then on Tuesday night we will be going out to the mall as a group to witness to people. So I am nervous about that but trusting that God will give me strength.
That's pretty much all the excitement that I've been going through when I haven't been at family parties, etc.
As for the audio world, things are at a stand still right now as I wait for my newlywed sister to record her lines for Star Wars: High Stakes and The Age of the Swords: The Spider Queen. Once she does that, things will move along! Until then you can get yourself excited by listening to the earlier episodes of High Stakes and the first part of The Age of the Swords.
Speaking of which, I was e-mailed a few weeks ago by another low-key radio station called Icebox Theater. They decided to extended and place a station on iTunes where they would play audio dramas 24 hours a day. Anyway, they contacted me and asked me if I would allow them to put some of my productions on the lineup. So, more exciting news!
Well, I got to get back to work. I will try to get things back to being steady here on my journal.

I've been very busy. And this week it's only going to get "worse." This Friday is the annual Harrison Harvest Party, in which we invite our friends and family and church members, etc. It's a great time of eating and talking for several hours outside in our "barn" (just a note, it looks like a barn on the outside, but inside it has a cement floor and furniture... and if your reading this, Emalin, I apologize, you're just getting a repeat :-D). We also play some music and even sneak some Christmas music in there. Yeah... we're all about getting ready for Christmas early. On average, I start listening to Christmas music in mid-September or early October. And by the way, we also decorate our house for Christmas a few days before Thanksgiving. We've always done it that way as long as I can remember.
ANYWAY, so this week I will be helping prepare for the party. But don't worry, Jim, if you're reading this, I will have time to work on Starkeeper.
I have to tell you, too, that I have really been struggling for a while now. I am "blessed" with the traditional male-curse of lust in the mind. It really drives me crazy and it gets me to the point where I feel that the best environment for me would be one without female interaction. Satan is a cunning devil (quite literally). He knows exactly what kind of bait to use on me. Several times in the past couple of months it's gotten to the point where I feel so disgusted with myself that I need to immediately take a shower in hopes that it will help me feel cleaner. But, you know, while that may help, there's really only one way to really clean myself. I have to say it really astounds me when I think about how patient and loving Jesus Christ is. He loves us sooo much that no matter how many times we commit a sin, He is ready and willing to forgive us if we confess it to Him. The person I can relate to the most is the Apostle Paul, who got it spot on when he talked about how he doesn't do the things he wants to do (turning from sin and serving God) but instead does the things he hates (sinning). It's so nice to know that even someone like Paul went through what I am going through. And praise God that, like Paul, there is hope for me; Jesus Christ.
What do you think happens when somebody dies? Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? Whether you do or don't, let's just say that they do exist. What do you think a person has to do to get to Heaven? Be a good person? Would you consider yourself to be a good person? If so, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything, no matter how small? Have you ever looked at another person with lust? (Jesus said that if we even just look at someone with lust, we've committed adultery with that person in our heart)--Have you ever used God's name as a curse word--OMG or GD, etc.? (This is called blaspheming the name of God)--Have you ever hated someone? (Jesus said that if we hate someone we are guilty of murder in our heart)So then look at this, if you've answered yes to this question, you have, by your own admission, stated that you are a Lying, Thieving, Adulterous, Blaspheming, Murderer-at-heart. Does that sound like the definition of a "good person"? Those were just five of the 10 Commandments. And if you're like me, you've probably broken most if not all of them, because Jesus said if we've broken one of them, we are guilty of breaking them all.
So if God were to judge you based on the 10 Commandments, would he find you innocent or guilty of breaking His Law? Being a good judge He would have to find you guilty. And because of that you would be sent to Hell. Because you can't stand before a judge and say "Yes, I know I'm guilty of these crimes, but other than that I'm a relatively good person." A judge will not say "Okay, you're free to go," because that would make him a bad judge, wouldn't it.
But do you know what God did so that you wouldn't have to go to Hell? He sent His Son Jesus Christ, fully God and fully Man, to live a perfect and Holy life because He knew we couldn't. And He took our place on the cross and died for our sins so that we could be spared the Wrath of God. Look at it this way: Say you're in a courtroom and the judge finds you guilty of a crime, and the sentence is life in prison or one million dollars. Most likely, if you're like me, you don't have a million dollars. So as the bailiff is dragging you away, someone you don't even know enters the courtroom, walks up to the judge's bench, slaps down a check for a million dollars and says "Judge, I've given up everything I have, I've sold everything; here's the money for this man/woman's fine. Please let him go." Now the judge being a good judge has to punish a lawbreaker, but seeing that the required fine has been paid, he will let you go, not because of anything you did, but because this stranger was so kind and caring that he paid the fine so that you would be spared prison. How would you feel about that person? Now, you probably realized it; what I've just done is illustrate what Jesus did for you at the cross. He paid our fine. What He requires from us now is that we turn from our sin (called "repenting") and put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ and truthfully believe that He is the one and only way to get to Heaven.
My encouragement to you is to give this some considerable thought. And if you've got a Bible handy, read the Gospel of John. And if you don't have one, pick one up, or go to www.biblegateway.com and in the search box type "Book of John".
Well, I will be praying for you, reader. And I apologize for 'talking your ear off', but this really is such an important matter. And I really care about you, I don't want to see you go to Hell; I don't want to see anyone go to Hell. And that's why this is so important. So please give this some serious thought.
Thanks for reading!

KrullDirected by Peter Yates
Written by Stanford Sherman
Starring Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, Freddie Jones
Summary In a fantasy adventure set in a world peopled by creatures of myth and magic a prince embarks on a quest to find the magical Glaive and then rescues his young bride. Colwyn (Ken Marshall) is the leader of a mythical sword-and-sorcery group in pursuit of "the Beast" that has kidnaped his fiance Lyssa (Lysette Anthony). From Amazon.com
Moview: I've watched this movie a couple of times over the years now--watched it again tonight for probably the third time--but, of course, all those other times I didn't have a LiveJournal to write reviews in, so here it goes. This is one of my favorite Pre-90's Fantasy/Adventure (this movie would also include "Sci-Fi") movies of all time. And actually, for those of you who are familiar with my audio production alter-ego, and my The Age of the Swords Trilogy, the story that has become AOTS was originally much different. From the title to the number of episodes to the location-setting to the story. This original series was simply going to be titled Etherealm (which listeners will recognize as the name of the world in which AOTS takes place). Anyway, a lot of the inspiration for the original Etherealm series came from the movie Krull. I have always been attracted to Fantasy/Adventure stories in which there is usually a quest of some kind, and the quest begins with just one or two people setting out. But along the way they acquire new friends and companions to join them. This is so with Krull. And the Etherealm series would have been very similar to Krull in many respects. But moving on to the actual review--
There are frankly some very strange elements to the movie; visual effects are okay; acting is pretty good. But overall it is just a wonderful adventure. A great deal of it can be owed to James Horner's masterful score, which was (and still is) praised by many to be one of his best, which I would agree with. It is the perfect adventure score with a great blend of adventure music, romantic themes, eerie tunes, and more.
The characters are all written very well, however you feel you don't have enough time to get to know most of them before the end of the movie. And, unfortunately, a good deal of the adventurers do buy the sword, but you just don't feel the need to shed a tear because you don't know them well enough yet. My favorite characters in the film are "Ergo the Magnificent"--a harmless "mage" who's spells often backfire, he is played by David Battley who, if you've seen it, also played Charlie Bucket's school teacher in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie--and the burly cyclops, Rell. Rell is just completely awesome and a really likeable character because he's always there to save people in the nick of time. Ergo is just plain hilarious; and when the two of them are put together it's pretty comical. The one thing that gets me every time in the part in the movie where they go their separate ways, Ergo looks sadly up at a Rell as they are parting and says merely "We had no time." Which is really sad.
The movie is interesting in that it blends together the worlds of Fantasy and Sci-Fi. The villain in the movie, simply called The Beast (no, "Krull" is not the name of the villain, that's always what I thought, too--Krull is the name of the world), is actually an alien invader with strange powers. His starship, if you will, is actually a giant stone and iron fortress that floats through space and descends upon the world and sets down. The Beast then sends his alien soldiers, armed with staffs which can fire bolts of blue energy, to conquer the world. One oddity is that the Beast's fortress never stays in the same place for more than 24 hours. Every morning at sunrise, the fortress suddenly disappears and suddenly reappears somewhere else, anywhere from 10 to 1000's of miles away from where it originally was. This creates tention because the companions, who are venturing to rescue the captive princess, are never sure where the fortress will be.
The story's hero, Colwyn, who was the princess Lyssa's betrothed, must set out to find a mystical weapon called a "Glaive" (which has no relation to the real-life polearm), which looks like this:

When the Glaive has an owner, it almost takes on a symbiotic relationship with him or her (in this case, Colwyn). During the last moments of the film Colwyn releases the Glaive like a frizbee in the direction of a wall standing in his way. Leaving his hand outstretched, as if magically directing it (almost like a Jedi using the Force to throw his lightsaber), and the weapon begins cutting at the wall, remaining suspended in mid-air until the task is complete. Colwyn uses the Glaive again to defeat a troupe of Slayers (the name given to the Beast's soldiers), using it almost like how Xena, the Warrior Princess, uses her chakram; it "bounces" off one Slayer and it's the next in line, only to return to Colwyn's hand.
The Glaive is said to be the only weapon that can defeat the Beast, and Colwyn is successful in doing so. However he finds that he cannot retrieve the Glaive from the Beast's body, where it remains, stuck in the creature's abdomen. After trying several times, it becomes apparent that the Glaive has played its last part in the story of Krull, and there will no longer be a use for it in the world. So, sadly, as always seems to happen, Colwyn must let it go.
Again, overall just a very enjoyable, fun, entertaining, adventure flick that is sure to remain a classic for many years to come.
Oh, yeah and here's a little trivia for ye: Krull was originally intended to be called Dungeons & Dragons, and was, of course, going to be based on the, then, new role-playing game of the same name. However, it is unclear what happened; possibly the license were lost for unknown reasons, forcing the movie to be made as an original story. Some concept art can still be found from the early days of the film, stamped with the Dungeons & Dragons logo on it.
Also, the film also provides as with one of the earliest appearances of acting veterans' Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane.
Alright, so here's the breakdown:
Story: 5/5 stars
Characters: 4.5/5 stars (minus that .5 simply because there isn't enought time to really get to know the characters)
Acting: 4.8/5 stars
Music: 5/5 stars
Cinematography: 4/5 stars
Total Avg.: 4.8/5 stars (but really, it might as well be 5/5 because what difference is .2 stars going to make?)
In other words: see this movie if you haven't yet seen it!

I hope that if there are any Christian readers out there reading this, this may inspire you as well, if you are like me and have been too afraid to share the Gospel with anyone.
Just released a new episode of Tosche Station eXM (a.k.a. TSXM), however it's not really a full-blown episode but rather a 20-minute catch-up on what I've been up to and why there hasn't been any TSXM episodes for so long, and more importantly, what's in store for upcoming episodes. So check it out when you get a chance: http://tsxm.mypodcast.com
If you are not familiar with TSXM, it is a Star Wars-based radio show, however there have been a few instances where I've introduced non-Star Wars related topics to talk about. So, either way, check it out!

Also, speaking of radios and "on the air", as of today, The Age of the Swords: The Descent of Shadows is being broadcast on the air in Columbia, Missouri. Yes, Chapter One aired today around 12:00PM; tomorrow will continue on with Chapter Two, and so on. So pretty psyched about that! It is being broadcast by Stephens College Radio by Bruce Humphries, who heads the mid-day matinee from 12:00 to 12:30 every weekday. Bruce has also informed me that once Part II: The Spider Queen is done he will be airing that again after an encore presentation of Part One later this year.
So, if you live in the Columbia area tune into KWWC 90.5FM every weekday from 12:00 to 12:30 to listen to The Age of the Swords, Part I: The Descent of Shadows in a whole new way!

Just wanted to give a quick plug to Last Words Radio, a Christian radio show that is aired in California on KKLA 99.5FM every Saturday night. The show is part of Last Words Ministry, an evangelism network that helps prepare you for sharing the hope of Jesus Christ with people. Last Words Radio is hosted by Greg, Kelly (both of whom I don't know their last names), and Tony Miano, who, if you know me, you know him because I practically talk about him all the time. Tony played a significant role in the outcry against the Lakeland Revival in Florida, headed by Todd Bentley. For those of you who don't know, supposed great miracles took place at this revival, such as Todd and other pastors healing the sick through Jesus Christ. While this may seem like a miraculous thing, there are things to consider here. For one, Todd Bentley is a very violent man. On almost an uncountable amount of incidents he has, so called, healed someone by physically harming them. This has included punching, kicking, tackling, head-butting, and many other forms of violence. Now, correct me if I'm wrong... but I don't seem to recall Jesus Christ doing anything violent when He healed people. Besides believing in gold dust that falls from the wings of angels, Todd also claims that he has spoken with the apostle Paul. Tony Miano was an instrument in trying to get the word out about the truth behind Todd's lies by standing outside the revival building and open-air preaching (which essentially is when you basically preach on the street) to the people waiting in line to get into the building. While merely quoting Bible verses, the people in the line mocked him and began singing songs to drown out his voice. Tony is just a really awesome guy whom I have looked up to this past year. I definitely advice you to check out Last Words Radio (www.lastwordsradio.com), and download the podcast recordings from their shows from February of this year all the way up until now. They are usually pretty quick in getting the mp3s uploaded after their Saturday shows.
One of the big pluses to the show is that the three of them (Greg, Kelly, and Tony) have a great sense of humor and are constantly making laugh when I listen to them.
Among other interesting segments, they have one segment entitled "Taking It To The Streets" where they call up their friend who's witnessing out on the street and he will put someone who's interested in coming on the show to talk onto the phone and Tony will witness to them right then and there.
Also there is a segment/game entitled "Where Do We Go From Here?" in which they play an audioclip of a celebrity. Callers try to identify who the speaker is, then they must explain how they would steer a conversation with this person into a discussion about Jesus Christ.
It's a lot of fun, it's funny, and it is awesome all the things you will learn that will equip you for evangelism. Again www.lastwordsradio.com. Go and take a listen.
Do it. You won't.

So, let's jump right into it!
Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn TwilightDirected by Will Meugniot
Based on the novel by Tracy Hickman & Margaret Weis
Starring Michael Rosenbaum, Kiefer Sutherland, and Lucy Lawless
Summary After 300 hundred years of peace the world of Krynn has descended into darkness as the evil goddess Takhisis and her army of dragons threaten to dominate the lands. Can a small band of heroes including the wizard Raistlin (Kiefer Sutherland) the priestess Goldmoon (Lucy Lawless) and the half-elven warrior Tanis (Michael Rosenbaum) save the world before all is lost? From Amazon.com
Moview: Alright, so... I know I was a little late in getting this movie. It was released straight-to-DVD in January of this year, and I've been meaning to get it but kept forgetting about it. Finally, while away on vacation two weeks or so ago, I was able to snag it at Wal-Mart. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to watch it until after I got home last week. I've already watched it one and a half times... just to give you an idea of what I think of the movie... ANYWAY... Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight is based on the first volume of a book series based in the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying campaign setting: DragonLance, by authors Tracy Raye Hickman and Margaret Weis. Unfortunately, I have to say right off the bat that I still have not actually read any of the Dragonlance novels, including Dragons of Autumn Twilight. I remember listening to part of the audiobook about nine or ten years ago but I don't remember anything about it. So, unfortunately I can't tell you how close it relates to the book. I do, however, own the book and am going to start reading it tonight, most likely, if I can put down The Black Cauldron... which may present a problem. Anyway, let's get on with this.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It has some downsides, of course, but, really, I enjoyed it. The acting is pretty horrendous. I would say that if I had to choose the best actors and/or actresses it would have to be Kiefer Sutherland and Lucy Lawless (yes, the one and only Xena, Warrior Princess). Other than that, no one else really stood out as having any miraculous acting skills.
The animation is subpar. I have always loved the style--it's the same style used for most of the original animated series of the 90's; pointedly X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The Animated Series--however there are times when there characters move too jerkily (probably not a word, but...) and it gets distracting. The decision to go with animation and full-blown computer animation was interesting. However, to me, it kinda took something away from the experience. In the movie, basically everything is traditional animation except for the Dragons and Draconians, both of which are computer-animated. The more subtle things I don't mind, like fire. Most of the time any fires we see are CGI. Weirdly, there are some parts in the movie where the whole screen jerks, as if there is too much animation for it to process. It is because of this that at times you find yourself thinking that this was is actually a fan-made project, rendered on a poor quality PC that couldn't handle all the figures and animations. However, I was able to look passed it and just enjoy the movie anyway.
The soundtrack (composed by Karl Preusser) has some very nice elements to it. The initial music that begins at the start of the film is a little over the top, with the female choir, but as the movie progresses the music gets better. Even after only seeing it once, I find myself humming bits of the soundtrack, because it stayed with me. Luckily the soundtrack is available on CD on Amazon.com, so I will be snagging that ASAP.
There are two or three elements where I felt embarrassed for Tracy Hickman. Trace is a born-again Christian, which is awesome. Actually this reminds me; as far as we know, Gary Gygax, the creator and found of the Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game, believed in Jesus Christ, which, again, is VERRRY awesome. Anyway, onto the embarrassing stuff. There is one scene in a tavern where the character Tika is walking toward one of the other characters, Caramon, and with each step... er... I don't know quite how to put this... let's just say, there is "movement" with each step. Sick. Also, during the opening sequence we see a female deity for a split second who is pretty much where nothing but has a vine wrapped around... ahem... AND unfortunately, again, same problem, for another split second we see a female village who is wearing a bear-hide jacked that is unbuttoned all the way, and she isn't wearing a shirt underneath. Yeah... so I felt a little bit embarrassed for Trace on those ones. It reminds me: my friend Andrew played an extra in a Bruce Willis movie last year. The movie is now out in limited theaters, and upon searching the reviews I found that there is apparently a topless scene in the movie. Whoops.
The characters are pretty cool, regardless of their actors' so-called acting. The character Tanis is very interesting. He is half elf, half man. As he explains it: his mother was Elven and was raped by a human. She died in childbirth. He grew up despised by Elves and Humans alike, because all the races of Krynn (the world in which Dragonlance is based) hate each other. So Tanis was forced to become an outcast. Apart from the pointed ears of an elf, Tanis inherited more his father's human-side. He has also tried to hide his elven heritage by growing his hair long to hide his ears, as well as growing a small beard (seeing as Elves don't grow facial hair), and he usually gets away with sinking into a crowd of humans without anyone noticing. The character Raistlin is intriguing but scary at the same time. He is Good/Bad, basically, and you kinda always have to be wary with him. He pretty much has the ability to use dark sorcery, but he continues to do fairly good things. However you always get the idea that there's much more to him than meets the eye. Hidden agendas and such. I suspect I will come to know a good deal more about him when I read the book. The next two characters that stand out as interesting are the barbarians Goldmoon (voiced by Lawless) and Riverwing. In the time that this story takes place, the gods of Krynn have seemingly abandoned the people because the people claimed they could command the gods to do their bidding. 300 years later, Goldmoon and Riverwing discover a strange scepter that they believe is a gift from the gods of light. In this day and age, most people don't even believe the gods exist and that they were just fairytales. When Goldmoon and Riverwing tell their tribe about the staff, they are cast out because of their beliefs. Simultaneously, both have a growing affection for each other, however by the laws of their tribe they are unable to marry because she is the chieften's daughter and he is a mere shepherd. Suffice it to say, it works out in the end :-D
Overall, the movie feels like a roleplaying game, which is an automatic PLUS! That's what I look for whenever they do movies based off of D&D stuff. The first Dungeons & Dragons movie failed horribly at this, but the second, The Wrath of the Dragon God, defined what a movie based off of a roleplaying game should be like. There is also a sort of Choose Your Own Adventure DVD out there called Dungeons & Dragons: The Scourge of Worlds. I played it several years ago, but I can't remember now whether they did good at making it feel like a roleplaying game.
ANYWAY!!! All in all here is the breakdown:
Story: 5/5 stars
Characters: 5/5 stars
Acting: 2/5 stars
Music: 5/5 stars
Animation: 4/5 stars
Female Characters with little or nothing on, or who are too detailed: 0/5 stars -- it didn't augment the story in ANY WAY! I guess I should just be thankful that there weren't any sex scenes.
Total Avg: 4/5 stars

Anyhoo, it is Sundee afternoon... evening-ish... at 5:30PM. It has been a pretty nice day. I'm definitely getting ready for September weather. I don't know if you know it or not but here in the big NJ we get 90 to 100 degree Summers. Yeah... that kind of heat is not in my dreams.... ever. I'm more of a 75 to 80 degree weather kind of guy. And luckily that's what we's being blessed with right now. It's about 78 degrees, there's a nice cool breeze, and I can smell Fall coming. Yes... I can smell weather. I can also smell rain just before it falls. Which, I do love the smell of rain, but they can never quite reproduce it in those candles.
I'm excited about Fall. Though I feel like Summer is going to be really hard to let go of. Because even though it gets bloody hot, I still love Summer. But the good thing is that I'm usually ready for the next season once it comes. Which, as was already spoken above, I am getting ready for Fall. I love Halloween season!
Anyways, enough about weather and seasons... Upcoming in my "entries", if you will... because for some reason we can't say "blogs" here... I will most likely be giving a review of The Clone Wars, which I saw the night before opening night on Thursday, August 14th. I know it's pretty much an old hat by now, but still... That may be a recurring thing: whenever I watch movies, be they new or old, even if I've seen them already, I will most likely write a bl.... er... entry about them. Same with books and soundtracks. Also, I would like to delve into some theological stuff as well. So we'll see what happens.
I guess that is all for now... I guess...
P.S. - I'm tireed. But I can't go to bed because it's too early. That's one of the weird things about me; if I got to bed any time before 12:00AM, I end up waking up in the middle of the night around 3:00AM and then I can't get back to sleep. Pretty weird. I guess.

Well, I guess that's about it for this LiveJournal. This will be the only entry. I'm leaving. Now.
Just kidding, of course. But I do, suddenly, have to leave as lunch calls. So... I shall retoin!
